A place where design, fun finds and family collide

Make a Mod Entrance {with AllModern}

In our small home I’ve always made sure our entryway not only functions for our family, but also looks aesthetically pleasing. For years we had a hanging coat rack and cabinet, but it was time for a refresh. I knew we needed to keep a closed cabinet because that is where we store our shoes. That is why I selected the Delancey 2 Door Accent Cabinet. I loved the size of this piece because it was going to fit perfectly in my allotted space. And I can’t deny the rattan fronts grabbed my attention.

When this piece showed up it was slightly different in color than I expected, which the descriptions did warn me of. It wasn’t anything my palm sander couldn’t fix. I gave it some DIY love and am so happy with how it turned out. I find sometimes when a piece is made to the proper dimensions needed, will serve the task you are looking for and the price is right; then sometimes a little DIY is worth it! This is definitely one of those situations.

For our entry, I also wanted a lamp to provide a soft light to welcome us when we are out in the evenings. I saw this Gaylor open top modern table lamp and knew it would add not only the light I wanted, but also a really cool presence. The concrete base mimics our concrete floors and ties in with our gray door. And the amber glass shade helps provide the warm ambient light.

I was super set on adding a mirror to our entry because it not only helps to add reflection and depth to our home, but who doesn’t need just one last look at themselves before walking out the door? I know I appreciate it now. So I searched for the perfect mirror to fit this wall and not obstruct our light switches; that’s when I found the Hub modern accent mirror in the 24×36″ size. It has a rubber edge which I think adds a comfortable visual rather than being too fancy.

And I’m a firm believer that you can add some extra pretty to any space, even if it has no function. And that is what this Tudor vase and a handmade bowl by my husband (from his wood shop class in high school aka as vintage haha) adds to this space.

We are definitely loving these new additions to our entryway. They take care of all our essential needs, while still looking great. They provide big style to our small space. Be sure to take a look at AllModern if you are working on refreshing a space in your home.
