Interior door update {with Emtek}

Since we moved into our condo in 2012 we have wanted to update our interior doors. The original doors were about an 1 1/2″ too short since we ripped out the carpet and decided to have concrete floors. Because of this, light and sound traveled under the doors far too easily. So about a year ago I reached out to Emtek because I fell in love with their hardware options. I knew I wanted to change all our door knobs from brushed nickel to flat black to tie in with our faucets and lighting we already have. While searching on Emtek’s website I swooned over the Stretto rosette because of it’s narrow rectangular shape. And I thought the pairing of the Laurent knob with it would really create a nice visual.

It then took me a year to decide on a color for the doors. I knew I wanted to incorporate a subtle contrast to my white walls, but this selection had to work well with our concrete floors that already have a warm gray tone to them. I didn’t rush this decision because I knew it had to be just right.
After more samples then I’d like to admit I decided on Behr Campfire Ash. It is the perfect greige color.

Look how amazing the profile of the Laurent knob looks in this space especially against the door color. You can see the Laurent knob has so many beautiful lines to it. The front profile is round, the sides have a nice clean edge and then the back has a gradual swoop leading to the rosette. It’s a beautiful addition to our home.

The doors we selected are composite, hollow core door slabs which kept the price down for us, but they did require a lot of prep work. From adding the hinge holes, to the doorknob hole, to the side plates…we did it all. It wasn’t easy, but they look amazing.

I think it is pretty easy to see what an impact new hardware can make in a space. Be sure to check out Emtek for your next project. Their selection and quality is amazing.

Thank you Emtek for partnering with me on this project; I couldn’t be more thrilled.
