A place where design, fun finds and family collide
It’s officially summer for us! Yay! We are definitely the family who loves summertime. You’ll usually find us at the beach, but I think we all know if we aren’t there, then we are hanging out in the backyard; relaxing. Geoff is usually bbqing, I’m usually reading a book and the kids just kind of cruise.
I’ve been approached by many new clients to help them create a relaxing outdoor area for their yards. I always ask them, do you have a fire pit yet? There is just something about having a fire pit that creates such a relaxing ambiance. My other go-to items are a set or two of comfy chairs, a few decorative items, plants and a big rug and you’ve got yourself a great spot to sit and chill. All the items featured on this design board are from my favorite, AllModern.
For this outdoor space I really wanted to create that modern, desert vibe. The use of all white chairs set on top of a neutral rug flanked by modern planters just reminded me of a design you’d see in a great mid-century modern home in Palm Springs. And like I said, you just need to incorporate a piece like this amazing square concrete fire pit. And you can’t forget the need for shade, so I featured a black umbrella too.
