I am excited and nervous to share my kids room with you all. Excited because I finally got around to photographing it and being happy with it enough to finally put a “stop” to the design and nervous because…well, I think when you are a designer of kids spaces there is an expectation to what you create. My style is very simple, I love black and white with pops of color, so this is what I created for my kids room. They share a room so I tried to have some symmetry while also being sensitive to the fact that it is a boy and a girl in this room. They play in this room, they sleep in this room and they get creative while drawing on the chalkboard wall. This room serves many purposes for our family. When you live in a 1000 sq. ft. condo you have to make the most of all the room you have. I feel that my kids have plenty of areas in this room to enjoy themselves, whether it is reading books in bed, playing with their Ikea kitchen or watching a movie together. At any given time throughout the day, some part of this room is being used and not only by my kiddos, our Boston Terrier loves laying on the serape blanket. I hope you enjoy this room as much as my kids do.

Here is the before of this room right before we first moved in our house 8 months ago…vertical blinds, gross carpet, yellowed closet doors and baby blue walls. Eeeek!
When we moved in we painted the room white, painted the chalkboard wall, painted all the doors and trim white, ripped out the carpet and sanded and sealed the concrete slab. Lots of work went into this space in order to make it into a room we all love.
This was my original design board for the room, as any room does, it changed a bit from the original concept, but it just feels right for my kids and their personalities.
Such an amazing transformation, Bri! What a fun space for your kids!
Love it! Great job Bri.
