My bunk bed dilemma

I am loving having a bunk bed in my kids room.  I can’t wait to share pictures with you all.  I have recently come across my one con of the bunk bed.  How in the world do you make the top bunk look cute???  I can’t for the life of me make my sons bed look in the least bit stylish.  I don’t dare get up on the top bunk, in fear I will fall right through, which means I can’t reach the far corners against the wall.  I do have my son crawl up there and try to help, but bless his heart he is only 4 1/2 years old.  So, in my frustration I started searching the web not only for images, but for answers.

I loved this image partly because the bottom bunk looks just slept in.  This did make me realize that folding the comforter at the foot of the bed is a good idea.  I usually use the comforter for the all over the bed effect, but that just wasn’t working.

Here is another idea…patterned sheets with the comforter at the foot of the bed.  This allows you still bring in pattern, but not have to struggle with the tucking.

I also found a few forums of moms discussing bunk beds, got to love the web.  One great point I wanted to mention was a mom who suggested putting on three fitted sheets on the top bunk.  That way when you take off the top sheet you already have another ready to go.  I thought that was such a helpful hint.  Would you have thought of that?

I think I have come to the conclusion that exposed fitted sheet with comforter folded at the foot of the bed is best.  It’s that or keep breaking my back trying to make that top bunk.  Cause I can definitely tell my son is getting sick of me corrected his bed making skills =p.
